Abstract


It is my absolute pleasure to share this special issue on the studio system in Indian cinema with the world. While individual studios like Bombay Talkies or Prabhat have received some scholarly attention, this is the first consolidated issue that foregrounds the structures, politics, aesthetics and networks of the studio system in India.
